Birds of Prey: 2.0 Edition Interim Boxed Set
Birds of Prey: 2.0 Edition Interim Boxed Set
Birds of Prey 2.0 Edition Interim Rulebook Bundle
Birds of Prey second edition is in active development, shifting to an E6BoP circular ratio calculator flight aid that does the following:
Front Side
Converting KTAS to KEAS (Air Density scaled real unit of measure)
Calculating Mach effects.
Calculating a unit of energy used within the game called “Smash.”
Converting KEAS to Flight Points
It also lets you make the core aerodynamic calculations:
Air Speed changes from climbing and diving
Form drag effects as a function of aircraft design
Induced drag from turning your jet at the altitude you’re currently fighting at
Engine modeling, including throttle settings and altitude interactions. This change in particular is both more accurate than the 1.0 flight model and increases the types of aircraft the game can model, including some of the earlier engines on the earliest jets.
Missile energy calculations, governing how they perform when coming off the rail.
Back Side
The back side replaces the Pips table (which was ratio driven) and expands its use for less than optimal performance regimes.
Chording for heading changes/turning the jet
Tools for gravity effects
9 ADCs have been updated, and the process of updaing the rest is being finalized (and automated); the current set of ADCs is out for testing, additional ones will be added as more kinks in the modeling are worked out (like variable geometry wings, like the F-14.)

This is a bundle of the E6BoP product (which is two E6BoPs and flight aid sets), the revised ADC product, and an “ashcan” rulebook with the absolute minimum amount of work put into laying it out and illustrating it; it has been proofread, but not extensively edited, and it is very much meant to be commented on, marked up, and put before the critical eyes of the air combat gaming community.
While it’s an ashcan rulebook, the changes in the game are the result of over a decade of identifying the pain points in BoP 1.0, and consolidating steps into a streamlined Sequence of Play. Experience at BoPCon shows that with a mixture of newbies and experienced players, the game is easier to teach, and faster at the table. Gunshots are both more realistic and faster to set up, focusing on piloting rather than looking up modifiers.
The reason for the ashcan rulebook is that while the game is mostly done, there are things that are still being worked on. We expect to add the missile rules in the near future, and likely other changes. Purchase of this rulebook also includes shipping some updated sections at no additional expense. (The budget, per the publisher, is about 3 mailings of 4-12 pages each).
This product is for people who don’t already own BoP, and would like to start with the playtest version. It does not come with a tutorial booklet, but does come with the 1.0 scenario booklet, box mini sheets, map, tilt blocks and stacking tiles. Because it is not intended for retail sale, it also comes without a box sleeve with pretty cover art.
When the tutorial booklet is ready for proofreading, we will send you the PDF for evaluation, as you’re the core demographic we’re trying to reach.
